Lamborghini, which is recognised as one of Italy's most prestigious automobile manufacturers, has entered the world of Esports by forming its own squad.

Jordan Sherratt, Gianfranco Giglioli, and Girgio Simonini will make up the team that will compete in SRO, which will be held by the GT World Esports Championship.

The new recruits bring in plenty of experience with them: Sherratt dominated the EMEA zone of The Real Race last season. Meanwhile, Giglioli finished sixth in The Real Race 2020, while Simonini clinched first place in the Sim Grid World Cup the same year.

The drivers have already begun preparing for the next events, according to the announcement press release, and they are being supported by Lamborghini's own racing team, driver coach, and other engineers to achieve the greatest degree of success in the scene.

Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsports at Automobili Lamborghini, said in a release: "Car simulators are an important platform in today's motorsports. Video games were born to allow those who did not have the opportunity to actually race to impersonate professional drivers. Now, after several decades of development in the industry, simulators are getting closer and closer to their real-life counterpart, and now they have nothing to envy about professional motorsport."

Real Race, which Lamborghini created in 2020, has been a huge success, according to company executives. Lamborghini has also confirmed the return of the Real Race in 2022, with dates to be revealed in the following weeks.

Lamborghini's new squad will be seen competing in the GT World Challenge Esports Sprint Series Europe and the Intercontinental GT Challenge Esports endurance competition.
